It seems to me that the Portland Historical Society (PHS) is best positioned to further this issue.I suggest that PHS call a meeting ASAP with representatives of stakeholder organizations (Working Group). The invitation and proposed agenda should also be sent to: - Elizabeth Dowling, RiverEast reporter - State Representative & Senator -Ct Historical Trust officials - All relevant Town Officials and employees* * include Town Public works DirectorOther Stakeholders include those that collaborated on the PortlandPlan Open Space event:Richardson & Munkittrick Ann Forella Gloria Gdovin Joyce MurphyGay Smith Phyllis Clark Mary PontFred Knous Ruth McGowan Deb EllsworthLloyd Glasson Mary Pear Ed Richardson/CT ArboristsThe Meeting Agenda might look like this:1. Where Are We? PHS presents an update report of recent meetings with Elmcrest owner/developers and Town of Portland officials.2. What Is Needed?Quick overview of PortlandPlan report on the issue. -Develop new development plan - Investigate Vibrant Community Initiative - Grants/monies available - Determine stakeholders & their needs - Investigate financials: property taxes /market value3. Our Tasks! Prepare an "action plan" of individual steps to be taken by specific organizations and/or individuals.4. Getting It Done.Establish Goals and Milestones
